GET BACK ON YOUR FEET AFTER HURRICANE DAMAGE.
People who hire a public adjuster are far more likely to recover what they're actually owed.
Damage to homes, buildings and infrastructure is becoming more and more common during and after hurricanes because storms are getting stronger. This means more people are filing insurance claims to pay for damages. Dealing with the insurance company is confusing, complicated, stressful and often doesn't cover the full cost of repairs.
Storm season can bring more than one storm. Photograph damage early and keep your receipts.
- The insurance company’s adjuster works for the insurance company. They often write lower estimates than the contractors you hire for repairs, making you think you need to pay out of pocket.
- Your insurance company will try to pay as little as possible for your hurricane damage insurance claim and may not cover all the damages. People who hire a public adjuster are far more likely to recover what they're actually owed.
- According to Florida state law, if 25% of your roof is damaged, your whole roof must be replaced. Insurances often argue that your roof is just under 25% damaged - we make sure you're covered.
- Denied claims are more common than you may think. Insurances have the rights to deny claims based on installation, design or construction errors. Our experts know how to file hurricane damage insurance claims to avoid denials.

Hurricane damage claim FAQ
What should I do first after hurricane damage?
Make sure everyone is safe, then take photos and video of all damage before any cleanup. Make temporary repairs that prevent further damage, such as tarping a roof or covering broken windows, and keep every receipt. Report the claim to your insurance company, and keep damaged materials until they have been documented.
Is it wind or flood damage, and does my policy cover it?
It depends on what caused the damage. Most homeowners and commercial property policies cover wind damage, often with a separate hurricane or windstorm deductible. Damage from rising water is usually covered only by a separate flood policy. When both are involved, the insurer may assign damage to the cause that is not covered. We document each area of damage and its cause so the claim reflects what your policy covers.
How long do I have to file a hurricane claim?
Deadlines vary by state and by policy, and some are shorter for hurricane claims. Check the notice and proof-of-loss requirements in your policy, and report the damage to your insurance company as soon as you can. If you are unsure of your deadline, call us and we can review your policy with you.
What if my claim was underpaid or denied?
You may still have options. We review the insurance company’s estimate and its payment or denial letter, inspect the property, and document damage that was missed or undervalued. We then present a supplemental claim to your insurance company and stay with the claim through negotiation.
How do you charge? Do I pay a fee up front?
No. United Claims Specialists works strictly on contingency. If there is no recovery, there is no fee.
How much experience do you have?
